Fitbit Ace APP Review

The Fitbit Ace app is designed as the central hub for the Fitbit Ace LTE kids smartwatch. This innovative app empowers parents with the ability to securely communicate with their children through calls and text messages. Not only that, but it also provides real-time location tracking, ensuring peace of mind for parents while allowing kids to stay active and engaged.

Beyond communication, the app enables parents to monitor their child's activity levels, fostering healthy habits from a young age. Parents can add and manage contacts for their children, ensuring that interactions remain safe and controlled. The app does require a paid Ace Pass data plan for some functionalities, but the level of security it offers may well justify the investment.

While the Fitbit Ace app is a great tool for staying connected with your child, it is important to highlight some user concerns. Some parents have expressed frustration regarding compatibility issues with other devices and health apps, which can hinder the experience. Moreover, the app also relies on a supervised Google Account for certain features, limiting accessibility for some users.

In conclusion, the Fitbit Ace app serves as a commendable companion for the Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch. It aims to create a safe digital environment for children while giving parents the tools they need to stay connected and informed. With continuous updates and improvements, it could evolve to address user feedback and enhance the overall experience.

update: still behaves badly 2026. It shows child location on a map but not the user's, unlike Google Maps, which shows both. However, child location updates are often delayed—up to 30 minutes on Fitbit and Google Maps. For a cellular device, this is disappointing, especially during critical moments like bus stop pickups. Additionally, I've received "device off wrist" alerts while the child was wearing it. Does not work outside USA or on WiFi. I regret the purchase, apple watch is superior.

Evidence shows that Fitbit doesn't respect blended families. Ace limits tracking to only 2 parents. Families in the forums requested a fix going back to 2024, their requests have been totally ignored.

Fitbit Ace users can not talk or chat with one another unless they are family members (limited to 6 and must be in the same google family group). The ONLY way to communicate with a Fitbit Ace user is to download the Fitbit Ace app and be an approved (via the parents) contact. My son can not communicate with his cousin, who has the same watch. In contrast to competitors, this is a major flaw. At $10/month others have unlimited calls and texts with generic or apple watches.
