Lumo by Proton APP Review

Introducing Lumo by Proton, a privacy-first AI assistant developed by the team behind trusted tools such as Proton's encrypted email, VPN, and password manager. With a commitment to user confidentiality, this app is designed to help you stay productive, curious, and informed without compromising your personal data.

Lumo stands out from the crowded field of AI assistants by prioritizing your privacy. Unlike many other technology companies, Proton ensures that your chats are encrypted and not used for training the AI, making it a safe choice for those who value their digital security. The app is user-friendly, allowing you to start a confidential chat quickly.

Despite its strong privacy features, Lumo has received mixed reviews and some user complaints regarding functionality. While many appreciate its capabilities, others have experienced issues with file uploads and incorrect responses. Proton is actively working to address these concerns and improve the app's performance.

In conclusion, if you are in search of a privacy-respecting AI assistant that offers a clean and secure way to explore your queries, Lumo by Proton is worth a try. Just keep in mind that it is still evolving, and user feedback is crucial in shaping its future updates.

First of all thanks for bringing dark mode. Now the major issues i have with this app is that even from a web application perspective it still feels unstable and inconsistent. like too much of loading time, no smooth transition animations, weird settings and other options layouts etc. I can understand it being privacy friendly but the UX is just way too 'beta' version like. Surprisingly other AI assistant ms still work fine in webapp form

Paid for it. Didn't activate. Isn't smart enough to answer questions about itself regarding this issue.

Version: 1.2.14-gms

Developer Response

That doesn't sound right. Were you successfully charged for the upgrade? If so, have you tried logging out, then logging back into the Lumo app to see if the issue is resolved? Good European alternative but still a bit slow and the UI could be better

Terrible, somehow restricted even more than claude, only reason it is not one star is because it is privacy focused.

Version: 1.2.14-gms

Developer Response

Proton hasn't explicitly "restricted" Lumo, however, there are limitations with using open-source LLMs, which we are working diligently to overcome. Make sure to use the thumbs down button to share your input with us regarding any inadequate responses so that our team can further improve the quality of the answers in the future.
