updating overview here since private version was silently removed from the store. it's unclear as to whether this was done by the developer or by Google, but would appreciate some clarification as to why the ad-free version which we paid for, was removed from the store. still have a copy cached of QRDroid Private on VMs; but it was auto-removed from live Internet connected devices.

QR scanning good, adverts dangerous. It scans codes, saves history and shows you the URL so you can choose whether to click through. The ads bar often contains ads that look like you're opening a QR code and if you click it and your browser is in default, the scripts executed on the webpages can either download malware or try and use payment methods stored in your browser to scam you out of money. If you choose to use the free version, be careful!
