Alter Ego APP Review

Alter Ego invites you to explore life's choices in this unique text-based interactive fiction game. What if you could live your life over again? With over a thousand multiple-choice questions, you have the power to shape your journey from birth to death, making decisions that will affect your character's happiness, career, and relationships.

The game is designed in the style of pick-a-path gamebooks but takes the concept much further. Whether you choose to live your life as a male or female, each choice you make leads to different outcomes, offering a thought-provoking experience. Will you embrace confidence, experience romance, or focus on your career? The decisions are all yours, making each playthrough feel personal and engaging.

As you navigate through various stages of life, you’ll encounter dilemmas that mimic real-life scenarios, allowing you to reflect on your own choices. While the game retains its original essence from 1986, it has been updated for modern devices with a fresh interface, although the content remains unchanged. This could be seen as a win or loss, depending on your perspective.

Despite its nostalgic charm, many players have expressed a desire for updates that include more progressive options, such as LGBTQ+ representation and alternative gender identities. This may limit the game’s appeal for some users, especially in today’s inclusive gaming landscape. Nonetheless, for those who enjoy introspective narrative games, Alter Ego remains a beloved classic.

Overall, Alter Ego stands out as a valuable interactive experience that challenges players to think deeply about their life choices. Whether you are revisiting a childhood favorite or discovering it for the first time, the game offers an engaging exploration of life's complexities, encouraging you to learn from the past and make wiser decisions in the present.

I used to play this game game years back when it was a random game I stumbled upon online and not an app. After all these years, I still love it. It's very unique and feels like it teaches you a bit of child development in it too. I'm glad I found it again.

Love it. Just wishing the story could have been made in a time where America is more progressive and give the option to date the same sex or the option to be non-binary, regardless i like the outcomes.

It's really disappointing that you are forced to be straight, and there are options whatsoever about exploring sexuality or gender. This normally wouldn't bother me, except in the childhood and adolescent stages, romance is extremely pushed on you, and the text will constantly describe how "stunning" and "attractive" members of the opposite sex are. Really feels like the heterosexuality is shoved down your throat.
