The Age APP Review

Stay in touch with Melbourne's latest news with The Age app. This application offers a seamless experience for keeping up with the latest headlines and breaking news. With features such as Top Stories and push notifications, users can stay informed on the topics that matter the most to them. Additionally, the app boasts a podcast catalogue that provides thought-provoking audio storytelling and discussions from the newsroom, further enriching the user experience.

My News is a customizable feed option allowing users to tailor their news intake according to their interests. Whether you're an avid crossword puzzle fan or looking for the latest articles, this app is designed to cater to your preferences. The Age app is free to download, but users can access unlimited content through a Starter Digital subscription. For those looking for even more, there are premium features available via in-app purchases, including access to Today's Paper, and various puzzles.

However, despite its useful features and content, the app has room for improvement. Regular users have reported issues with navigation, such as difficulty scrolling through longer articles and challenges in managing their subscriptions efficiently. Some users long for the addition of a dark mode and the ability to adjust font sizes to improve readability. These enhancements could significantly elevate the overall user experience.

In conclusion, The Age app serves as an essential tool for consumers of news in Melbourne. While it offers a wealth of information and engaging content, there's an opportunity for the developers to address user feedback to refine the app’s usability. Continuous updates that fix bugs and improve user interface will be crucial in maintaining its user base and ensuring satisfaction among subscribers.

I use it in conjunction with the website version. Both have different strengths and weaknesses. Overall it's a good experience.

Further update: Nope, they're back. And what's happened to the Comments? That's the best bit of the Age. One star again. Update: The google ads have gone ??? Nearly full marks, but we'll see. Original review; Non-stop and totally irrelevant google-sourced ads make this app a pain, even though I have a paid subscription for The Age newspaper. Uninstalling, will stick with website via Duck Duck Go. Ditto with the Fin Review.

It's the year 2025 and apparently you have to call them to cancel your subscription. They could easily implement a feature for the user to unsub either on the app or web, but they chose to make it as hard as possible to do this. Do better.

I'm a daily user and am generally happy with the app but I would rate higher if I could find a way to set it to dark theme (the default for my tablet).

my app has stopped working and there is no way to sign again. it reverts to a google email address which is not the one I signed up with, and there are no contact details to be able to speak or deal with someone as to how fix my problem. how can a reputable newspaper be so appallingly bad in detailing with their readers. Why am I paying for a subscription when I cannot access it. and where is no way to deal with it.
